Greetings,
For those of you with the ability to search by message ID could you have
a look at this: <22596756431720617@ >
I ran across this post in last night and have started
3 times to followup to it, but each time something stops me.
For one thing, the IP address they claim to be using is RoadRunner, but
when I followup, I see (as you do in the Message-ID)
which, if you do a whois goes back to Time Warner Telecom.
Furthermore, the IP address they claim is impersonating them is not from
an ISP, rather AIRN, the association which is responsible for the
assignment of IP address block. It is NOT possible for AIRN to be
impersonating them, so that IP is obviously spoofed.
But what bothers me the most is the fact that the most obvious solution
is to have the person simply cancel their gmail account, or provide
examples to the admins at gmail and have them remove the account.
I am just suspicious to see if, in fact, the person is fishing for IP
addresses or something of that ilk. After years in tech support,
something just doesn't seem right. I guess I am looking for some
validation.. does anyone else get a feeling that there is something not
right here?
Thanks
